Read More	Mrs. Sabra McMannis Died in Des Moines Mrs. Sabra McMannis, 80, a life-long resident of Lucas county and widow of Jobe McMannis who died in 1964, died last Thursday at the Calvin Manor home in Des Moines. She had been a patient there about three weeks. A long-time Pleasant township resident, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Robert Morrison of Prole, and Mrs. Owen Grant of West Des Moines; a son, Durward of Newton; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hall of Chariton, Mrs. William Harger of Newton; a brother, Nelson Umbenhower of Independence, Mo. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Griffin officiating. He was assisted by the Rev. Paul Nelson. Interment was at the Zion cemetery. SABRA MCMANNIS Sabra Umbenhower McMannis, the second child of John and Martha Umbenhower, was born in Pleasant township. Lucas county on May 16, 1885. After the death of her husband Jobe McMannis on Nov. 29, 1964 she had made her home with her children until September when she was taken seriously ill and confined to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines. Later she was taken to the Calvin Manor home where she passed away on Dec. 9, 1965 at the age of 80 years, six months and 23 days. On July 3, 1904 Jobe and Sabra were united in marriage and to this union four children were born. One infant daughter Dorothy died at birth. The three remaining children are: Durward McMannis of Newton, Cleo Morrison of Prole and Nora Grant of West Des Moines. A daughter-in-law Lessie McMannis and two son-in-laws, Robert Morrison and Owen Grant were a great comfort to her especially in her recent illness. Two sisters survive her, Mrs.Bessie Hall of Chariton, and Mrs. Alverda Harger of Newton and a brother Nelson Umbenhower of Independence, Mo., Two sisters preceded her in death, Mrs. Estella Lenig and Mrs. Gladys Storms. She is also survived by five grandchildren Mrs. Carolyn Brown and Mrs. Linda Mahr of Indianola, Mrs. Kay Gruhn of Kellogg and James and Sally Grant of West Des Moines and nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The 60 years of her married life was spent in Pleasant township and her friends were numbered by her acquaintances. She was a good neighbor and friend to all who needed here and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Funeral services were held on Sunday, 2 p.m. Dec 12, 1965 at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Griffin of Des Moines and the Rev. Paul Nelson of the Belinda Christan church officiating Casketbearers were Blair and Alva Wood, Louse Westman, Walter Wiren, Henry Pierschbacher and Howard Whitlatch. Interment was in the Zion cemetery.
