Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri., Mar 17, 1944 - Page 1 Samuel James McCue Samuel James McCue, son of John and Anna McCue, was born April 24, 1866, in Cedar county (sic), Iowa, and passed away March 7, 1944, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Bruce Thomas, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 13 days. Five sons and one daughter were born to this union, three of whom preceded him in death. John McCue, 83, of Wilsonville, Nebraska, passed away four days before Mr McCue. He came to Nebraska with his parents and settled in Clay county (sic) in 1881. He was married to Lena Krell at Fairfield, Nebraska, August 16, 1894. To this union were born five sons and one daughter. He leaves to mourn his passing, three sons and one daughter, Bernard of Grand Island, Nebraska; Earl of St. Lawrence, South Dakota; Cecil of Martin, South Dakota and Mrs. Mildred Thomas of Edgar; also 19 grandchildren, two brothers other relatives and a host of friends. He moved onto a farm near Edgar, Nebraska, and resided there until about six years ago. He spent the last few years of his life in Grand Island with his son Bernard, and family. "When the day of life is over, And you too shall hear the final summons, May your loved ones who have gone before Be waiting and watching to welcome you home. Even death has a wonderful mission Though it robs us of those we love, It lifts our hearts from our surroundings, To long for that meeting above. No matter how heavy the burden, No matter how deep the despair, Does not Heaven seem nearer and dearer To know that our loved ones are there? Short services were held at the Bruce Thomas home Friday, March 10, 1944, at 1:30 p.m. with funeral services at the Methodist church in Edgar at 2:00 p.m. Rev. S. W. Longacre as in charge. Mrs. E. J. Mort and M. E. Cushing sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Mrs. Lydia Phelps was at the piano. Pallbearers were: M. E. Cushing, Frank Bishop, Charles Cook, Robert Sigman, George Thomas and Barney Kollman. Interment was made in the Fairfield Cemetery
