Read More	SAMUEL LOY - Probably the largest concourse of people in the city to leave their worldly cares and business to assist in the last sad rites of the body of a fellow citizen were in attendance last Friday afternoon at the funeral services of Samuel Loy who was born in Perry County, Pennsylvania, February 9, 1802 and died in Americus, Lyon County, February 6, 1889 lacking three days of being 87 years old. The deceased embraced the Christian religion in the month of August 1844 and ever since has lived a consistent Christian life up to the time he passed away, at peace with God and his fellowmen. He lived in his native state until the spring of '47 when he, with his family, moved to the west settling in LaSalle County, Illinois, where he lived until the fall of 1852 when he moved to LaGrange County, Indiana settling near the town of Lima. In the spring of 1856 he moved to Minnesota. Here he lived until the spring of 1860 when he moved to the territory of Kansas and settled near the town of Americus where with his family he has resided since. Amongst his grown children, nine in number, all living except Nicholas, his oldest son, who died November 30, 1885. The funeral services were held in the Methodist Episcopal Church, the text was taken from the the Psalm, the verse, "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace." ~Emporia Daily Republican, 14 Feb 1889 ______ DIED--At the family residence in this city this morning at 9 o'clock, Mr. Samuel Loy Sr. Mr. Loy was an old resident of this place, having moved to Americus in 1869, maintaining a continuous residence here since that time. Some years ago he was stricken with paralysis, which finally resulted in his death. Had he lived until next Saturday he would have been 87 years of age. He leaves a very large circle of friends and relatives. Several of the children are living at a distance at the present time who have been telegraphed for. The services will be held at the M. E. church on Friday at 10 o'clock and the remains interred in the Americus cemetery. -The Emporia Evening News, Wednesday, 06 Feb 1889
