Coder were held yesterday afternoon at the Coder funeral home here and interment was made in the Coon Rapids cemetery. The Rev. O. E. Cooley was in charge of the services and special music was furnished by a mixed quartet composed of Keith Textor, Miss Dorothy Watrous, Wayne Cooley and Miss Betty Coder. Mrs J. Thos. Rogers was at the organ. Mrs. Coder died Monday at her home here after a lingering illness. She was 82. Sarah Ann Hampton, daughter of Isaih and Bursheba Ann Hampton, was born at Macon, Mo. April 16, 1855 and passed away at her home in Coon Rapids on July 5, 1937. Her age was 82 years two months and 19 days. At the age of 10 years she moved with her parents to Carroll county and located on what was known as the Si Rhodes farm near Old Carrollton. On December 24, 1874 she was married to Uriah G. Coder. The marriage took place near Dedham. To this union five children were born. One daughter, Myrtle, died at the age of two years. Another daughter, Mrs. Elnora McMullen, died .about two years ago. Three sons, Mannie, Otis and Clarence, all of Coon Rapids, survive. Soon after her marriage Mrs. Coder became a member of the Methodist church and remained faithful throughout her lifetime. With the exception of six years, Mr. and Mrs. Coder spent their married life in Iowa, most of it in Carroll county. Through the years they made many friends and in spite of the duties of home they found time to participate in community activities, especially various types of church work. When they were physically able, they could always be found at Sunday school, at prayer meeting and in fact at an service where God was worshiped. Besides the three sons, Mrs. Coder !eaves her aged companion, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and one adopted grandson. For the past 20 years Mr. and Mrs. Coder have lived in Coon Rapids. During the past few years they have been greatly handicapped because of almost total blindness that overtook them. In the midst of this mutual affliction they were a constant source of encouragement to each other. When others sometimes complained they said "God is Good." Mrs. Coder was a sincere Christian woman who, although believing in the worthwhileness of this life, yet believed that there was a better world to come where the afflictions of this life would be absent, where the shadows and darkness of this life would not prevail She died in the strength of this triumphant faith. She will be sadly missed by her family and especially by Mr. Coder, who was constantly near her in latter years.
