Description	:	Our mother and grandmother, Sarah Loewen, was born to Samuel and Susanna Boese on July 18, 1884, at Durham, Kansas. She peacefully fell asleep at the Linden Nursing Home on January 26, 1979, reaching the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 8 days. Mother, with her parents, moved to Dalles, Oregon, in 1890. It was here she received her education. At the age of seventeen, Mother was baptized upon the confession of her faith and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. Read More	Our mother and grandmother, Sarah Loewen, was born to Samuel and Susanna Boese on July 18, 1884, at Durham, Kansas. She peacefully fell asleep at the Linden Nursing Home on January 26, 1979, reaching the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 8 days. Mother, with her parents, moved to Dalles, Oregon, in 1890. It was here she received her education. At the age of seventeen, Mother was baptized upon the confession of her faith and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite. She embraced the faith unto the end. In the spring of 1902, our mother moved to Alberta where she has resided ever since. In October of 1904, she was married to Abram I. Loewen. (This was the first wedding in the Linden Congregation.) Mother experienced the rigors of pioneer life, serving as nurse and midwife in addition to her family responsibilities. She often expressed her concern for the spiritual welfare of her family, that they might all be saved. In July of 1941, our father passed away, leaving Mother to care for those of the family who were at home. She also assumed the responsibility of rearing her granddaughter, Evangeline Andreason. In the spring of 1968, Mother was admitted to the Linden Nursing Home due to failing health. However, Mother lingered on until the Lord called her to rest. We mourn, but not without hope in Jesus. We are grateful that her pilgrimage is ended. She leaves to mourn: her children: Ena Chriest, Scio, Oregon; Susie Friesen, Linden, Alberta; Levi Loewen, Rocky Mountain House, Alberta; Philip Loewen, Vedder Crossing, British Columbia; John and Sarah Wilson, Enderby, British Columbia; Alfred and Alvina Loewen, Red Deer, Alberta; Naomi Andreason, Calgary, Alberta; Joseph and Josephine Loewen, Scio, Oregon; Rhoda and Herman Toews, Blueberry Mountain, Alberta; two daughters-in-law: Betty Loewen, Linden, Alberta; Betty Loewen, Pine Lake, Alberta; twenty-five grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild; and one brother, Daniel Boese of Linden, Alberta. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Matilda Wilson; two sons-in-law; and four grandchildren; five brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services were held January 29, 1979, at the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Linden, Alberta, with the home ministers in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery.
