Read More	SOURCE: The Nebraska Signal 9 April 1981 MILLER, SARAH CAROLINE—Sarah Caroline Nelson was born July 6, 1893, in Fillmore county, Chelsea township, to Alfred and Emma Peterson Nelson. At the age of 13, she joined the Chelsea United Brethren church, under the pastorship of Rev. C. J. Melville. Sarah continued a faithful member until her death. In 1910, after the death of her father, she and her mother took up residence in Geneva. She graduated from Geneva high school in 1913. After graduation, she taught school in the Edgar vicinity for one year, and then worked at Dr. Beck's office in Geneva. On February 14, 1918, she married Wilson J. Miller at her mother's home in Geneva. Two daughters, Lucille and Doris, came to bless their home. Upon Wilson's return from World War I, they resided in Chelsea community until moving to Geneva in 1959. Her present home has been at Heritage since the death of her husband, Wilson in 1973. Sarah and Wilson were very active in World War I Veterans organizations and auxiliary, holding many state offices. She held membership in World War I Auxiliary Post No. 2118, the American Legion Sloan Bolton Post No. 68, the Geneva Grange, Thursday Afternoon Kensington, the Dorcas Circle of Methodist church, and she was a charter member of the Chelsea Extension club. Even though stricken in 1971 with a stroke, she enjoyed and participated in the many activities at Heritage. The highlight was being crowned princess in 1978. Her cheerful smile will be missed by all at the home. She leaves to mourn her passing, two daughters, Irene Lucille and husband Leo Ochsner of Sutton, Doris Mae and husband, Chester Morotz of Hoskins; five grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson; her parents; one brother, J. A. E. Nelson; four sisters, Minnie Fox, Tillie Anderson, Hattie Brainard and Irene Brainard. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 1981, at the United Methodist church in Geneva with Rev. Jay Funk officiating. Mrs. Roger Will sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and John Nelson sang "In the Garden" with Mrs. Wilma Nelson accompanying on the piano. Mrs. Norval Lomax provided the organ music and accompanied with the congregational hymn of "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Pallbearers were Bernard and Floyd A. Anderson, Lowell R. Heath, Charles H. and Irvin L. Miller and Richard Nunns. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
