Was married to Henry Rausher December 5, 1867, in Des Moines county (sic), Iowa. Nearly all of her married life was spent in the home near Nelson, Nebr., the home which she helped to build, side by side with her soldier husband, and a truer wife and better helpmate can not be found. She was the mother of four children, Lottie, Cameron and Edward who survive her and were permitted to be near her during her declining years, and John who died in childhood. She was a good and faithful mother and was intensely beloved by her children and their families who were untiring in their care of her at all times. She was a member of the Baptist church and was truly a soldier of the cross; a good neighbor, a faithful friend to all who knew her, and though she had lived past her three score and ten years and was ready to go, we will miss her sorely; there will be one vacant chair. She passed quietly into the Great Beyond October 12, 1917, and to her it will surely be said, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." The blessings of her quiet life, Fell on us like the dew; And good thoughts where her footsteps pressed Like fairy blossoms grew. There seems a shadow o'er the day, Her smile no longer cheers; A dimness on the stars of night, Like eyes that look through tears. Fold her, O Father, in thine arms, And let her henceforth be A Messenger of love between Our human hearts and Thee. ============================================== John, the child that died in childhood, was born about 1869 in Iowa. In the 1870 census, John & his parents were living in Oquawka, Henderson County, Illinois. He is in no further census records.
