Description	:	Wife of James H. Wise Mrs. Sarah E. Wise, for forty-five years a resident of this vicinity, died Tuesday evening at 9 o'clock at her home on Third street, her death resulting from paralysis. She suffered a paralytic stroke Thursday morning of last week which affected her throat and vocal chords so that she was unable to speak from that time, and Tuesday night she suffered a second stroke which affected her right side. Her strength failed rapidly from then until her death. Sarah B. Thompkins was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, on Dec. 11, 1844, and was married to Leander McElroy in 1861. To this union three children were born, one of whom died in infancy. Those living are Mrs. John Camblin of Eldora, Ia., and Jas. McElroy of Villisca. Leander McElroy died fifty years ago and his widow was married to J. H. Wise on Dec. 16, 1876. To this union one son, Roy, was born. J. H. Wise died Aug. 24, 1915. Besides her children, Mrs. Wise leaves one brother, Chas. B. Langley of Des Moines, and one sister, Mrs. O. P. Reynolds of Villisca. Mrs. Wise came to this vicinity in 1875, and has lived here continuously since that time. She was a member of the Methodist church. The funeral will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church, with Rev. E. S. Menoher in charge of the service. Burial will be in the North Grove cemetery. Those who are here for the funeral are Mrs. John Camblin and daughter of Eldon, and Chas. B. Langley of Des Moines. Villisca Review 11 Jun. 1920
