Description	:	OBITUARY-McCOY Mary A. Thompkins was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, April 20, 1841, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. M. Wise, in Page county, this state, September 29, 1909, aged 68 years, 5 months and 9 days. She was married to Abram Young in 1860. To this union was born one child, William Young, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, who was with his mother during her last hours, remaining for the funeral. Thompkins was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, April 20, 1841, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. M. Wise, in Page county, this state, September 29, 1909, aged 68 years, 5 months and 9 days. She was married to Abram Young in 1860. To this union was born one child, William Young, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, who was with his mother during her last hours, remaining for the funeral. Mrs. Young was married to Daniel McCoy June 11, 1867. To this union were born six children, five sons and one daughter. One son, Albert, died about two years ago. The others, Jesse, Fred, Charles and Curtiss and the daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Wise, all live in or near Villisea and were at their mother's bedside when death came. The deceased united with the Baptist church at the early age of fifteen years, but after moving to Page county in 1869, she united with the Methodist church at North Grove. She was an every-day Christian and impressed all who knew her with the sincerity of her belief. Besides the children named she leaves five step-children, William, Monroe, and Alva McCoy and Mrs. Ella Edwards, of this vicinity and Mrs. Retta Heady of St. Joseph, Missouri, two sisters, Mrs. O. P. Reynolds and Mrs. J. H. Wise, also of this vicinity, one brother, James Thompkins, who lives in Oregon, two half-brothers, J. E. Langley of Keokuk and C. B. Langley, of Des Moines. Mrs. McCoy was a patient, kind and loving mother; a loyal friend, and neighbor. In her death the community has lost one whose place cannot be filled in the home, the church or the community. The funeral was held from North Grove church Friday, October 1, 1909, at eleven o'clock, conducted by Rev. C. A. Carlson and was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Four sons and two step-sons were the pall-bearers. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Smith, Miss Minnie Moore and Henry Weber rendered sweet and appropriate music while Miss Ethel Cook presided at the organ. The floral offerings were profuse and beautiful. Interment was in the North Grove cemetery.
