Bird Rexrode, 82, of Mill Gap, succumbed at a Staunton nursing home Saturday, Aug. 26 after an illness of some time. Mrs. Rexrode was born at Mill Gap March 15, 1884, a daughter of the late Francis and Sarah Shover Bird. Her husband, Sullie B. Rexrode, died in 1957. Mrs. Rexrode was postmistress at the old Valley Center post office for many years. Survivors include two sons, Hampton Mills Rexrode of Richmond, and Boyd G. Rexrode of Poquoson, and four grandchildren. The , funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 30 fro Green Hill Methodist Church at Mill Gap by the Rev. Kenneth D. Amstutz. Interment was in the church cemetery with Obaugh Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
