Her parents moved to Clarke County, Iowa when she was about 10 years of age, where she has continued to reside. She united in marriage to Horatio Husted, November 7, 1861. Read More	Sarah Jane Husted Sarah Jane Day Husted was born in Clay County, Indiana, September 8, 1843 and died at Osceola, Iowa, February 22, 1926, aged 82 years, 5 months and 14 days. Her parents moved to Clarke County, Iowa when she was about 10 years of age, where she has continued to reside. She united in marriage to Horatio Husted, November 7, 1861. To this union was born twelve children, all of whom survive her except the oldest son, Thomas Wesley Husted and the youngest, Roscoe Boyd Husted. Those that survive her are: Mrs. Della Hoppel of Fremont, Nebraska, John Harvey Husted and Mrs. Fred McClure of Loveland, Colorado, E.S. Husted of Henry, Nebraska, O.T. Husted of Jackson, Montana, S.F. Husted of Wise River, Montana, Mrs. J.S. Switzer of Osceola, Iowa, H.P. Husted, Wilbert Husted and A.M. Husted of Canada. She also leaves thirty nine grandchildren and thirty five great grandchildren. She with her husband, lived on a farm northeast of Murray, where he died January 18, 1894. After her companion's death she continued to reside on the farm until the fall of 1902, when she moved to Murray, Iowa, where she resided until last May, when failing health caused her to give up her home. She spent the summer of 1925 with her daughter, Mrs Della Hoppel of Fremont, Nebraska, then returned to Iowa and made her home with her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Switzer north of Osceola. She and her companion joined the Methodist Protestant Church in 1836. When she moved to Murray she united with the Methodist Church. She lived a consistent Christian Life. She suffered a great deal through her last illness but she was patient meek and submissive until the Master relieved her of her suffering. She was a loving companion, always bearing her share of the responsibilities of the home. Farewell, Farewell, Oh! Mother dear, A treasure from us has been transplanted from earth to Heaven above. May her prayers and teachings guide us till we are called to share her home above. Pioneer Mother Passes In the passing of Mrs Jane Husted, Clarke County loses one of its oldest pioneer citizens. At the time of her death at 2:30 a.m. on February 12. 1926, she was 82 years of age, for the past 72 years she has made Clarke county her home, her late husband, Horatio Husted, preceding her in death 30 years ago. The deceased has made her home in this city with her daughter, Mrs. J.S. Switzer since the middle of September until two weeks ago when she was taken to the Harken Hospital where she died. She is the Mother of 12 children, 7 of whom survive. [ten are listed] They are Mrs Della Hoppel. Fremont, Nebraska, Harve Husted and Mrs Della McClure of Loveland, Colorado, Truman Husted of Jackson, Montana, Frank Husted of Wise River, Montana, Pearl, Wilbert and Arla Husted of Stavely, Alberta, Canada, E.S. Husted of Henry, Nebraska, Mrs. J.S. Switzer of Osceola, Funeral services were held from the Methodist Church in Murray and burial in the Union Cemetery.
