ANDY MARKER Sarah Jane Reed was born in Terre Haute, Indiana, December 15, 1831, and died at the home of her son, Mart Marker, June 9, 1918, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 24 days. She was united in marriage to Andy Marker on July 19, 1855, in Darke county, Ohio. To this union nine children were born: Melissa J. Hart, of Kansas; John Wesley and Charles Martin, of Lacona, Iowa; Mary F. Triggs, of North Dakota; William C., of Wall Lake, Iowa; and David E., of Ayrshire, Iowa. Two children, a boy and a girl, died in infancy, and one boy, Ed, preceded her to the Great Beyond. Her husband died May 26, 1904, leaving her to fight the battles of life alone. She has been in poor health since May 15th, and as time wore on she gradually grew weaker until death claimed her for his own. All that loving hands could do was done to relieve her, but she passed away quietly Sunday evening about 8 o'clock. She leaves to mourn her death six children, 38 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, besides a host of friends. The funeral services were held at the U. B. church near Norwood, on Wednesday at 11:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Emory Curtis, of Chariton, and interment made at the Fletcher cemetery.
