Son of Andrew Marker and Sarah Jane Reed OBITUARY THE CHARITON HERALD-PATRIOT Chariton, Iowa Thursday, March 21, 1946 JOHN WESLEY MARKER John Wesley Marker, eldest son of Andrew and Sarah Reed Marker, was born in Greenville, Ohio, March 21, 1858, and passed away at the Baker Nursing home in Chariton, Iowa, March 17, 1946, at the age of 87 years, 11 months and 17 days. In the fall of 1864, with his parents, he came by covered wagon to Ottercreek township, Lucas county, Iowa, which, with the exception of a few years, has been his home. On December 15, 1880, he was united in marriage to Julia M. Parker at Indianola, Iowa. To this union 10 children were born, Clinton B. and Milton A., of Lacona, Iowa; Jesse E. and Riley O., of Lucas, Iowa; Mrs. Dollie Pottorff, of LaMars, Iowa, and Mrs. Olive Chandler, of Lucas. Preceding him in death were his companion and four children, William E., Ida M., Zena and Faye. Besides his children, he is survived by 34 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one brother, Mart Marker, of Chariton, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services, in charge of the Rev. A. E. Beals, of Russell, were held Tuesday, March 19, at 2 p.m. at the Miley funeral chapel. Burial was in the Fletcher cemetery near Norwood.
