Read More	PARKER--After a lingering illness, death came to relieve the suffering of Mrs. Frank M. Parker of Broughton Friday morning, March 6. Her death came only a few months after that of her husband, who passed away last May. Mrs. Parker was of a quiet retiring nature, very devoted to those near her and during her long residence in the Broughton community her kind ministrations to neighbors and friends were many and they will never forget this good woman. She liked to do things that would make others happy and so when she was stricken with an incurable disease those whom she had been so thoughtful to, were willing to be of service to her. While she will be missed by her loved ones, they realize that her days of suffering are over and that she is at rest. The story of her life is as follows: Sarah M. Thayer was born in Vandalia, Cass County, Michigan, March 26, 1850, and died March 6, 1925 aged 74 years, 11 months and 7 days. She grew to womanhood in Michigan and was united in marriage there with Frank M. Parker on April 17, 1870. They were the parents of seven children. Mrs. Parker was one of a family of nine children, but only one sister is now living, Mrs. George Shofe of Manhattan, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Parker came to Kansas in 1870 and took a homestead north of Bala in Riley County, and later, in 1887 moved to Clay County, and finally moved to the farm near Broughton which has been their home for over 38 years. Mr. Parker died on May 10, 1924, and two of their children preceded them in death. One son, Frank Berchard died at the age of six years, and a little daughter, Sadie May went to heaven at the age of four months. Mrs. Parker grew up in a Quaker home and lived in this faith throughout her life. Those who mourn her departure are her children, Minnie Brown of Los Angeles, Calif., Willis A. Parker of Broughton, Effie McCoy of Woodbine, Nina Towle of Wakefield, Mildred Osborne of Broughton, and Agnes McDiffet of Alta Vista with their families including fourteen grandchildren, her sister, and many friends who have known her during her lifetime. Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock at the Parker home and at 2 o'clock at the Broughton M.E. church Sunday afternoon, with Rev. J.H. Neumeyer in charge. The body was laid to rest in the Broughton cemetery. The large attendance of friends at the funeral and the beautiful flowers were tokens of love and respect for the departed and her family.
