Read More	A FINE NEIGHBOR PASSES ON Mrs. Fred Towle, Sr., who had resided here since 1901, passed away about 8:30 p.m. Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Oreno Davidson, in Junction City, following several months illness. Her death brought sorrow to not only her children and other relatives, but to her many friends and neighbors as well, for Mrs. Towle was a sincere christian. She was loved by all who knew her, for her gracious and loyal character and devotion to her family. Funeral services were held at the Mercer Funeral home here at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Rev. John Baker, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Chet Cool and Mrs. Thelma Brougher sang two numbers, accompanied by Edna Rankin. Burial was in Highland cemetery here, with Ben Fyfe, Ed Billingham, Earl Faidley, Art Fasse, Raymond Clark and Fred Oswald as casket bearers. A group of six state highway patrolmen attended in respect to Mrs. Towle as her son Fred has been a highway patrolman a number of years. All of the six children, but one, were present for the rites. Mrs. Towle was born at Manhattan Feb 27, 1880, her maiden name being Nina Evelyn Parker. As a girl she lived in the Broughton vicinity, making her home there until her marriage to Fred E. Towle on Dec 4, 1901. Since that time the family home has been in Wakefield. Into this home were born 3 sons and 3 daughters, all surviving their mother. Other survivors are 3 sisters, a brother, 6 grandchildren, a number of nephews and nieces, and cousins-and many friends. Mrs. Towle was preceded in death last March 16th by her husband. He was virtually bedfast for 3 years. Mrs. Towle's true christian faith and courage were demonstrated in the care she gave him during his extended illness, as well as in the quality of her life, her devotion to her family, and her loyalty to the Methodist church here of which she was a member for many years. (The Wakefield News) . Frank Parker, her father, was a stone mason and was working on buildings on the K-State campus at the time of Nina's birth. Many workers lived on the campus at this time. Nina was born on the K-State campus. . She always said she played with her brother and did all the things the boys did. However, she was an excellent swimmer, a great horse-back rider, and a crack shot. . Everyone loved Mom, her kids, sons and daughters-in law, grandkids. A great-grandchild once asked, "What was it about Mom that people loved her so much?" We didn't know. But, I do think it was because Mom loved other people and was a very warm, generous person. .
