Description	:	Sarah was the daughter of William McKinley and Martha Margaret McCullough and was born in Elizabeth Township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania in 1832. This township adjoined Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvanian and within these two townships lived the Forsyth family, this McKinley family and several McKinley and McCullough relatives. When the Forsyths migrated to Iowa in 1851, they were joined by the McKinleys and McCulloughs. Sarah and her family settled in adjoining Mahaska County, in Oskaloosa Township. FORSYTHE – Mrs. Sarah Forsythe, died at her home, 1314 Ninth avenue east, June 23, 1915, at 11 a.m., aged 82 years, 6 months and 26 days. She was born Dec. 24, 1832 in Pennsylvania, and has lived in Iowa 64 years, in Mahaska county 53 years. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Eva Coffin and Miss Viola Forsythe; two sisters, Mrs. Hanna McKinley and Mrs. Marguerite Chandler; and two brothers, Arch and Dave McKinley. Funeral services will be held from the home, 1314 Ninth avenue east, Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment in Forest cemetery. From Oskaloosa Saturday Herald June 26, 1915 issue FORSCYTHE – Mrs. Sarah McKinley Forscythe, daughter of William and Margaret McKinley, was born on December 24, 1832, at Elizabeth, Pa. with her parents she moved to the vicinity of Oskaloosa in 1851. In 1859 she was united in marriage to Thompson Forscythe and to this union were born two children. Mrs. Eva Coffin and Miss Viola Forscythe, both of Oskaloosa. Mrs. Forscythe was 82 years and six months old at the time of her death, which took place at her home, 1314 Ninth Avenue east, on Wednesday, June 23, at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Forscythe was never a robust woman, but was possessed of great vitality. Many times in her life has the end seemed near, but not until age had worn the body to great weakness was the last call answered and an entrance made into the celestial home above. Mrs. Forscythe comes of a family of great vitality. Two brothers and two sisters remain with us to recall the virility of the older generation. Arch McKinley, aged 87, Mrs. Margaret Chandler, aged 85, Miss Hannah McKinley, aged 81, and Dave McKinley, aged 79. These are the men and women of the generation that made Oskaloosa, and made Iowa. These have themselves been workers among those who changed Iowa from untamed prairie till it is now one of the fairest and most fruitful places on the earth. It is remarkable also that the homes of all these have been in and around Oskaloosa all through these years. It is the energies of these pioneers that has placed Iowa among the great commonwealths of the world. They laid foundations of the great civilization which we at present enjoy. They built homes, schools, churches, colleges, so that now a boy or girl has opportunities of education and usefulness that even the wealthy did not possess in the early decades of the last century. These go to their rest, having seen and helped in accomplishing greater changes than any such period in the whole history of the age has witnessed. Well may they rest from their labors for their works do follow them. Mrs. Forscythe united with the Presbyterian church when a child and has been a consistent member of that church all her life. The funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Alexander McFerran, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Interment at Forest cemetery.
