Read More	A Sad Event at Bolinas Mr. and Mrs. John McCoy, of Bolinas, have just laid in the grave their beloved daughter, Sarah, at the age of 14 years. When writing these words, the Apostle knew that he must soon die, for he saw that death was common to all. And we are taught that when the "dust shall return to the earth as it was, the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." We are met today, my friends, to mingle our tears and our sympathies with those who mourn the loss of a loved one. How true it is that Death loves a shining mark? The dear one, whose precious remains lie before us, and who, in life, was so well known to us all, has been, from her infancy up, a devoted child, obedient to parents, to teachers, and to all who have ever had any charge over her. Her parents and other relatives have nothing connected with her to look back upon with regret. Her teachers, both in the public school and in the Sunday school, look back upon her course with the greatest pleasure. Her schoolmates and friends are happy in the thought of the bright example she set before them; may they ever follow it. About four months ago she was obliged to relinquish the studies she so much loved, on account of illness. From that time on it became more and more alarming, and soon it was apparent (hard as it was for her relatives to realize) that it was her last sickness. This she bore with patience, and without a murmur. And when the solemn fact was made known to her that she must die, she resigned herself submissively into the hands of "Him who doeth all things well." On her dying bed she called each one of her relatives and even had her sick and aged grandmother brought to her bedside, to take an affectionate and final farewell. To a near and dear one she said, "I am soon going home to Heaven; I want you to meet me there." This, with our exhibitions of the most perfect resignation and faith, might be mentioned. On the morning of the last day of the old year, calmly and peacefully her happy spirit took its flight to her Heavenly home. Thus has passed away the seventh child from these bereaved parents. How much we all shall miss her? Yes, in our Sunday gatherings, and at the organ, in the Sunday school, her sweet voice will be sadly missed. But, oh? how gratifying, how satisfactory is the reflection that relatives and friends, that pastor and people, that teacher and scholar can say, as of one of old, "She hath done what she could; she bath done all things well."
