She has been a resident of Dublin all of her life with the exception of six years. Read More	PA: John Snyder & Henretta McCoy Dublin, Ind., Oct. 1. -- Mrs. Sarah Demree, aged 86, the oldest native resident of Dublin, is dead at her home here. She has been a resident of Dublin all of her life with the exception of six years. When she came here from Columbus, O., where she was born, there was no railroad and the Old National road was a mere mud road. her father, John Snyder assisted in the building of both these thoroughfares. Back when the stage coaches ran through Dublin, Mrs. Demree lived almost opposite the stage depot which was also the post office at that time. It was located two houses east of Doll's grocery and the house is still standing. John Snyder, her father, was an old stage coach driver and for many times he drove over the Allegehny mountains before he came to Dublin. For many years he operated a stage between Dublin, Cambridge City and Milton. Mrs. Demree was also the only surviving scholar of what is believed to have been the first school in Dublin. This school was a private school for primary scholars and was run by Mrs. Peter Boggs. it was located where Mrs. Stella Clifford now lives and the original building is a part of her home. Mrs. Demree for many years lived next door to her school house and there she reared her family. Mrs. Demree was a charter member of the Women's Relief Corps at Dublin. Last Friday she attended the home coming of the Corps at Cambridge City and was present with a badge of membership for 35 years. She was also a member of the Pocahantus and Daughters of Rebekah. She was for many years a member of the Universalist Church here. Mrs. Demree was one of the few to receive the maximum soldier's widow's pension, as she was married before the war to John R. Binkley, who enlisted in Company C. 84th. Ind. Pol. Inf. as a drummer and carried a bass drum throughout the war. He was with Gen. Sherman on his march to the sea. Mrs. Demree always kept the old drum as a sacred possession, and is still in the family
