Simmons, died at her home on West Broadway last night at 1 o'clock. She had been in failing health for several months, a sufferer from no particular disease but from weakness incidental to her advanced age. Simmons. ---------- Fairfield Ledger Fairfield, Jefferson county, Iowa April 29, 1903 Pg. 6 Col. 5 Death of Mrs. Simmons. Sarah Weaver, wife of the late William L. S. Simmons, died at her home on West Broadway last night at 1 o'clock. She had been in failing health for several months, a sufferer from no particular disease but from weakness incidental to her advanced age. Mrs. Simmons was born in Clermont county, O., January 31st, 1824, grew to womanhood there and was married August 3d, 1852. The following spring she came with her husband to Iowa and they lived on a farm near Brookville from that time until 1896, when they removed to this city. The husband died here July 5th, 1900. Seven children were born to them, four of whom are now living - E.F., Sadie B, and Nancy W, in this city and Rev. Charles W. in Denver, Col. All were present with the mother in her last hours. Mrs. Simmons had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church most of her life and was a woman of many excellences and christian virtues. She was held in highest esteem by all who had known her in a half century of life in this community. Funeral services will be held at the family home on West Broadway tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock.
