Kuhns, son of Charles W. and Mary Jane Kuhns, was born on a farm near Mapleton, Iowa, April 1, 1901, and died in an Omaha hospital December 3, 1971, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 2 days. He moved to Omaha in 1922 and on September 6, 1926, he was united in marriage with Annabelle Reed. He went to work for the U. S. Post Office Department as a special delivery carrier and worked there for 17 years. During this period he served as a substitute rural route carrier on South Omaha Route 3 for several years which brought him through Papillion. In May of 1943 he and his family moved to Papillion from Benson. The year prior to moving to Papillion he served as Master of John J. Mercer Lodge No. 290 A F & A M in Benson. During his 27 years in Papillion he was a Boy Scout Leader for several years, a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church Board and a member of the Draft Board. He retired from the U. S. Post Office and also from Quaker Oats Chemical Plant. Since his retirement in 1966 he worked at the Ak-Sar-Ben races and family shows. He has also had a lawn mower repair business at his home. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Clifford of Omaha; and Eugene of San Jose, Calif.; seven grandchildren, two in San Jose and five in Papillion; and one brother, Carl, of El Paso, Tex. Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Armin Vogt officiating. Interment was in Cedar Dale Cemetery. Pallbearers were George J. Storms, Lloyd Hendericks, Walter Cordes, Chester Glasshoff, Hans Bock and Albert Steyer. Kahler Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
