At the church service, the choir sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me." Pallbearers were: W.W. Davidson, L.J. Palas, L.J. Stallbaum, George Looke, William Allen and J.W. Downie. A memorial fund of $29.00 was given to the church. Seth Clark was born in Wagner township August 17, 1860. He was the son of Milo and Mary Ann Lunbeck Clark. He died at his home in Elkader Wednesday, March 19, 1947, living 86 years, seven months and two days. He was united in marriage to Anne Embretson Gronhovd January 27, 1887. To this union three sons were born, Joseph, who died in infancy, Alvin, who died April 17, 1919, and Joel, who lives in Elkader. In his boyhood, Seth Clark lived on the Clark homestead except the fall and winter of 1883 and 1884 when he was at Ashland, Kansas. In 1923 he toured the west for ten months. Seth Clark moved to Elkader in 1937 where he remained until his death. He was director of the St. Olaf Savings Bank from its beginning until four years ago. He was also township trustee for several years in Wagner township and was active on the township school board. Mr. Clark leaves his son Joel, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
