She married Fredrick Joseph Emry February 10, 1962, in Washington, Iowa. She was born November 17, 1943, in Washington, Iowa to Allen Grant and Norma Fern Churchill Dunsmore. Shelby grew up in Washington, Iowa and graduated from Washington High School in 1961. She married Fredrick Joseph Emry February 10, 1962, in Washington, Iowa. She worked at American Chain and Cable in Fairfield, Advanced Ross in Washington and at Fansteel -Washington Manufacturing for 22 years. She retired in 1998. Shelby enjoyed donating her time and quilting. Shelby is survived by her children Anthony of Otley, Charles (Connie) of Brighton, Iowa, Robert (Tamara) of Brighton, Iowa and Susan Griggs (Ed) of Washington, Iowa. As well as 8 grandchildren, Josh Emry (Andrea) Iowa City, Iowa, Stephanie Manning (Justin) Janesville, Iowa, Sarah Zickefoose (Seth) Kalona, Iowa, Austin Emry (Cassandra) Kellogg, Iowa, Cheyenne Griggs, Aurora, Colorado, Nolan Griggs, Lafayette, Colorado and Joseph Emry, Brighton, Iowa. Shelby is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, 2 half-brothers: Dinny Dunsmore of Gastonia, North Carolina and Ricky Dunsmore of Belleville, Illinois, 2 step brothers: Gary Night of Tennessee and Terry Night of Washington, Iowa, 1 step sister: Virginia Hanshaw-Gleason of Fairfield, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, parents, Allen Dunsmore, Norma and Clyde Knight, one granddaughter, Anna, one brother, Charles, step sister Sondra and step brother Larry. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday October 30, 2021, at the Brighton Community Church with Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be 5 – 7 P.M. Friday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton, Iowa. Memorials for the Brighton Volunteer First Responders or the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 509 East Main Street, Brighton, Iowa 52540. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is in charge of arrangements.
