(No document for Burdick labels his parent's names until his death.) Sherd was only two years old when his grandfather passed away. This confused Sherd from his young life on. He was incorrectly sure that his grandparents WERE his parents. He grew up with mother and siblings at his grandparent's home place. He could neither read nor write but would give the names of his grandparents on documents for marriage, this added to record confusion. Officials would write the information for him and he would mark his X, to sign. He told wives and children this same misinformation. It only confused things for generations. Sherd 1st married Nellie Doshia Stout, 1913, and she passed March 1, 1931 . His 2nd marriage is to Ruth Marie Rosier, March 8, 1934, Doddridge County, WV. Ruth Marie Greathouse passed 9 Aug 2005.
