Shirley was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Maude (Goodson) Neer of Catawba. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seward Denney, son, Rodney Denney, and brothers, Harold and Richard Neer. Shirley was a graduate of Wittenberg University and primary school teacher in Clark County. Read More	Shirley A. Neer Denney, passed in peace, May 29, 2014 at the age of 80, while in the Springfield Masonic Community. Shirley was the daughter of the late Mahlon and Maude (Goodson) Neer of Catawba. She was preceded in death by her husband, Seward Denney, son, Rodney Denney, and brothers, Harold and Richard Neer. Shirley was a graduate of Wittenberg University and primary school teacher in Clark County. Following her teaching career Shirley helped many others as an employee of The Medicine Shop in Springfield. She was a long-time member of the Hillside Avenue Church of God. Shirley was a talented Seamstress, and an avid gardener, and loved her grandchildren. Survivors include her sons, Robert Fannin (Mary), Ronald Denney (Katherine) and John Denney (Connie) all of Springfield. Shirley is also survived by eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy McDonough (Tom) of South Charleston; a brother, Ernest Neer (Jane) of Richmond, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive visitors at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3rd at the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME, 830 N. Limestone Street, Springfield, with a Memorial Service in Shirley's name beginning at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Criner officiating. Please consider planting a flower at your home, and thinking of Shirley at that moment, in lieu of memorial flowers.
