Description	:	Shirley Ann Higgins was born on July 30, 1936 on a farm near Naper, NE to Peter and Mabel (Cunningham-Sprenkle) Kramer. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church, Naper, NE. Shirley attended grade school at Naper until 1949. The family moved to a farm near Herrick, SD. Shirley attended school for one year at St. Charles, and then finished grade and high school in Bonesteel, SD, graduating May 14th, 1954. Read More	Shirley Ann Higgins was born on July 30, 1936 on a farm near Naper, NE to Peter and Mabel (Cunningham-Sprenkle) Kramer. She was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Church, Naper, NE. Shirley attended grade school at Naper until 1949. The family moved to a farm near Herrick, SD. Shirley attended school for one year at St. Charles, and then finished grade and high school in Bonesteel, SD, graduating May 14th, 1954. Shirley met and married Orlon Higgins at Sacred Heart Church in Naper, NE, on January 16th, 1954. To this union two children were born, Marcia and Monica. They moved to the family farm near Jamison, NE. They moved to Omaha, NE in 1959, while Orlon attended barber college. In 1960, after graduating from college they moved to Loup City, NE for three months while Orlon apprenticed. They moved back to the ranch to help Jim and Zoe Higgins, and moved a couple of times within a six year period, until 1969 they settled in 1969 in Gregory, SD. In addition to being a wonderful Mother to Marcia and Monica, Shirley also worked outside the home at the following businesses: Gregory Coop, Norwest Bank, Buches, Byries and Louies. Over the past 11 years, Shirley has been a nursing home resident. She passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour, SD. Shirley was an Honorary Member of the Altar Society and a member of the Catholic Daughters. Shirley had a beautiful voice and sang for weddings, funerals and other activities. She enjoyed family gatherings (especially spending time with her grandchildren), entertaining, cooking and crafts. She and Orlon enjoyed dancing and boating. Shirley is survived by: her husband, Orlon, of 59 years; her daughters Marcia Cook of Herrick, SD.; Monica (Robert) Schmiedt of Woodstock, GA; four grandchildren: Justin (Shawni) Cook, Austin (Amy) Cook, Chandler (Vicki) Cook, Chere (Tom) Stephen; a brother, George Kramer of Las Vegas, NV; 4 sister-in-laws: Joan Kramer of Platte, SD.; Marge Kramer of Wagner, SD; Opal Carley of Gregory, SD; Thelma(Leonard) Schmitz of Naper, NE; eight great grandchildren: Detric, Thursey, Billy, Tyler, David and Kailey Cook; Landon and Landre Stephen; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were: her parents; four sisters: Katherine (Melvin) Parlet, Stella (Bill) Hermsen, an infant sister, Clara Marie and Mary, a stillborn twin of Frank; three brothers: Frank Kramer; Joe (Alyce) Kramer; Paul Kramer; a sister-in-law, Geraldine Kramer; a brother-in-law, Harold Carley and son-in-law Bill Cook.
