She was born Sept. 18, 1927, in Salina, the daughter of Horace A. and Thelma J. Drawbaugh. Shirley was a 1946 graduate of Salina High and a 1950 graduate of Marymount College of Salina. She was a longtime employee of the Mobil Oil Corporation at its offices in Kansas City, Mo., returning to Salina in 1983, where she spent the remainder of her life. Shirley was a supporter of Salina Community Theatre, serving on the board of directors, and as an officer and member of the Theatre Guild. She was a skillful actress, performing in many SCT productions, including "Ladies In Retirement," "To Kill a Mockingbird," and the lead role of Daisy, in "Driving Miss Daisy." Shirley was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Salina, serving on the Session, on a pastor search committee and many other committees, and regularly volunteering in the church office. Her personal philosophy was to practice forgiveness in all her relationships and to always be more concerned for others than for herself. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and by her only sibling, Eulora "Lori" Allen, of Salina, in 2013. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Strong City Cemetery. Memorials to: the First Presbyterian Church of Salina, or Presbyterian Manor Good Samaritan Fund, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
