Coming to South Dakota at the age of 7 years (1883), his parents were among the pioneer settlers of Ree Heights. They filed on government land in Midland Township and later when a young man Percy filed a government land claim of his own in Midland Township. He spent practically all his life farming and raising stock. His experiences were many and varied while batching on his land claim, such as tornadoes, prairie fires, etc. He married Eva L. Davisson, January 15, 1908 at Waldwick, Wisconsin. She was a native of Wisconsin being born near Mineral Point, Iowa County, August 26, 1881 and is residing at Lebanon, Oregon and will celebrate her 97th birthday August 26, 1978. Their home was established 9 miles southwest of Miller in a gulch, where their two children were born. Elmer born December 14, 1909 and Dorothy, September 26, 1913. Later the home was built up on the hill and the children attended rural school. Both graduated from Ree Heights High School. Elemer evenvtually went to Oregon where he resided the rest of his ife. Married and father of three children. Beverly Nicholas Jellison, Jefferson, Ofegon, school teacher, 4 children. Robert Nicholas, Madison, Wisconsin, married, two boys. He has his doctorate degree, teaches Spanish at Madison State University. Also helped compile Spanish Text Books which are used in Universities. Barbara Nicholas Kauer, Sacramento, Californina, married, two daughters. Worked for callifornia state and insurance agencies. Percy passed away April 17, 1948. Elmer passed away October 22, 1959, while working for the Oregon State Industrial Accident Commission. His widow, Florence survives and has a nursing home in Seattle, Washington. Dorothy married Elmer Fitzgerald and resides in Lebanon, Oregon, where they have several rentals. She worked for the State Board of Cosmetic Therapy in Miller, South Dakota and moved to Lebanon, Oregon in November of 1948. worked for the City of Lebanon and First National Bank of Oregon, before marriage. He was very active in City business, having served on the council, Past Fire Chief and Past Mayor of Lebanon. ~~~~~~ Burial record says "died 1945" 1880 census "Simon" is 4 in household of Simon & Jane, b.
