Description	:	Simon Scholten, 89, of Alton died Thursday in a nursing home in Orange City. Services were held Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Alton. Rev. Ray Tilstra officiated. Burial was in Nassau Township Cemetery, Alton, under the direction of the Van Gelder Funeral Home, Orange City. Mr. Scholten was born May 6, 1897 at Alton, the son of Herman and Anna Marie (Menning) Scholten. He was a lifetime resident of Alton. He married Susanne Klein April 17, 1930 at Alton. Mr. Scholten was born May 6, 1897 at Alton, the son of Herman and Anna Marie (Menning) Scholten. He was a lifetime resident of Alton. He married Susanne Klein April 17, 1930 at Alton. She died Nov. 6, 1957. He married Minnie Veldhuis Nov. 19, 1959 at Alton. He was in the trucking business for 10 years. He served as town marshall for 24 years and then as county supervisor for 13 years, retiring in 1970. Mr. Scholten was a member of First Reformed Church of Alton. Survivors include his wife; a son, David of Sioux City; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Grace De Boer of Alton; two half brothers, John and Gerald Scholten, both of Alton; four half sisters, Mrs. Ray (Jeanette) Riedeman of Sanborn, Miss Margaret Scholten of Alton, Mrs. Bernice Jasper of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Miss Nelvina Scholten of Orange City. He was preceded in death by his first wife, two sisters and one half sister.
