Description	:	Solomon ALLRED III is the only known son of Solomon ALLRED II and his Wife Mary FINLEY. It is believed Solomon Allred II migrated from the West Nottingham Tax District of Chester County, Pennsylvania in the summer of 1730 to escape the taxing collection conflicts. It was in Frederick County, Maryland where Solomon ALLRED III was most likely born in 1731. The brothers of Solomon Allred II are also believed to have settled in the same Antietam Creek area of Frederick County, Maryland. Solomon ALLRED III, age 17/18, married Mary HAYS, age 16, in 1748 in Frederick County, Maryland. The 14 children of Solomon ALLRED III and his wife Mary HAYS are: 1. Solomon ALLRED III built a Log Cabin in Colonial Guilford (now Randolph) County, North Carolina, USA in about 1746. A possible scenario is that Solomon traveled down the Virginia Shenandoah Valley by horse back with his cousins to North Carolina from Frederick County, Maryland to verify the good reports about a possible new homestead. It would have been a very good plan on their part to first scout out and select this new land. No doubt his mission was to build a new Log Cabin before other family members made the long journey south. So when they arrived in the wilderness of the Colonial North Carolina back country they would immediately have a place to live. This scenario is consistent with the fact it was only a few years later in 1752 Solomon received two land grants with "improvements". Solomon received two Land Grants on 10 Mar 1752 at the Deep River where the mouth of Sandy Creek is under the modern Highway 64 bridge west of Ramseur. The Land Grant listed as a tract that included "improvements by Solomon Aldricks" with 2 parcels. This key Land Grant description "Mouth of Sandy Creek on Deep River" identifies this tract as the same that Solomon Allred sold in 1771. Per the March 15, 1755 Herman Husband land grant of 640 acres was at head of Sandy Creek north east of Sandy Creek Baptist and south where the Sandy Creek waters emptied into Deep River. Herman Husband's tract bordered the Semore YORK Land Grant on Sandy Creek, where Jeremiah YORK also lived. This tract also included a log cabin built by Solomon Allred and claimed by Zachariah Martin. Entered 15 Mar 1755 "In Lieu of an Entry made the 14 Nov 1754". See Orange County Records, Volume I, Granville Proprietary Land Office, Abstracts of Loose Papers, page 12, edited by William D. Bennett. Per AFO. Surveyed 2 May 1755 This land was located "next door" to the land John Allred received a land grant for in 1755 when Thomas was living with him. So, by this we know that Solomon was living "next door" to John and Thomas for a while. A few years later, Solomon apparently had moved a few miles south of John's land. In the book Orange County Records, Vol. V, Granville Proprietary Land Office, Deeds and Surveys, 1752-1760, edited by William D. Bennett, C. G., also on file in the Genealogy Room of the NC State Archives, Raleigh, NC, on page 131 you'll find: 1 August 1760, Solomon Allred, planter, ten shillings, both sides of the mouth of Sandy Creek, begin at a hickory by Deep River on Hopkin's line, along his line N 30 ch. to his corner black oak, N 25 ch. to a hickory, E cross Sandy Creek 60 Ch. to a white oak, S 80 ch. to a red oak, mulberry, and elm by Deep River, up river to beginning, 400 acres, sixteen shillings rent per year, surveyed 16 October 1759, George Julian and John Allred, CC. (SSLG 83-C) (Ed.note: see N. C. Patent Book 14:327). Another description of this land is found in a copy of the original land grant on file in the Research Room of the NC State Archives, Raleigh, NC. Attached to this land grant was a plat map showing the land boundaries. Solomon Allred is among other of his brothers, John, William, and Thomas are listed in the 1755 Tax List with No Township Listed for Orange County, North Carolina. This is firm evidence that Solomon ALLRED III was an early pioneer resident of what is now Randolph County, North Carolina. Nineteen years later Solomon sold his Grant Land On Sandy Creek. This transaction is recorded on 12 Aug 1771 in Orange County, North Carolina, now Guilford County, North Carolina, deed book 7, pg 58. Next, Solomon Allred had moved south and bought 100 Acres on the Richmond/Montgomery County Line. This transaction is recorded on 10 Sep 1774 in Anson County, North Carolina; deed book D, pg 249. Death: Solomon ALLRED III dies some years later in Richmond County, North Carolina, USA; based on the 1790 US Census of Richmond County, North Carolina, USA. He is not found in the 1800 US Census. It is estimated he died around 1795 at age 64. I am most grateful for the above information as part of the research report of Linda Allred Cooper, Aug. 2001. Some Additional Notes: Solomon ALLRED III was born about 1730 in Frederick County, Maryland. Solomon ALLRED III had eight children who were born in Randolph/Richmond County, North Carolina; or possibly one or two sons were born in Frederick County, Maryland before the family arrived in North Carolina. Phineas ALLRED was born about 1762. Phineas had five sons, all born in Richmond County, North Carolina. The first born of Phineas was Solomon ALLRED VI who was born in 1784. He married Averetta a full blood Cherokee Indian. They had eleven children; all born in Overton County, Tennessee. His eighth child, Solomon ALLRED VII was born in 1823.
