Read More	LEWIS, SOPHIA HELEN HELEN--Sophia Helen Lewis, second daughter of William and Bessie Mullikin Rhoda, was born September 2, 1897, on a farm in Chelsea township. She attended Dudley, district 30 grade school; graduated from Ohiowa High School with the Class of 1916; went to Peru State Normal School. She taught schools in District No. 56 and 81, Parks Consolidated School and Stella Public School. Helen passed away on Thursday, May 20, 1993, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 95 years, 6 months and 18 days. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & son Funeral Home in Geneva on Saturday, May 22, 1993, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Stan Rider officiating. Mrs. Evalyn Foster accompanied Kelly Eich who sang “The Lord’s prayer,” and “Beyond the sunset.” Casket bearers were Bill C. Eich, Dale Eberhart, John Rhodes, Thomas Rhodes, Robert Rhodes and Jody Rhodes. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. Helen married Rex. A. Lewis in 1921, after 20 years, this marriage ended in a divorce. While living in Denver, Co., she worked as front office cashier at the Cosmopolitan and Brown Palace hotels for 10 years. Helen entered Civil Service in Denver in 1952 in the Veterans Insurance Department. In 1963, the office was transferred to Minneapolis, Minn., where Helen retired in September 1967. Helen then moved to Lincoln and made this her home until June 1983. She moved back to Geneva to be near her nephew, Bill Eich. She lived alone until August 1987, when she then made Long Term of the hospital her home. Helen belonged to Retired Teachers, Retired Civil Service Employees, over 50 years as a member of Royal neighbors. Helen was a member of the Methodist church of Geneva. Helen lived at Strang, Fairmont, and Farnam, was a resident of Denver for 32 years and Minneapolis for four years and lived in Lincoln for 16 years and her last 10 years at Geneva. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant brother and sister, sisters Edna Eich and Lillie C. Rhoda and nephew Lowell E. Eich. She is survived by nephews, William E. Eich and wife, Dorothy, Robert Eich; and niece Rhoda Pearle Rhodes and husband Stanley, seven grand-nephews, three grand-nieces; three great-nephews and four great-nieces.
