Sophia Knowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Knowles, was born October 5, 1860, at Osco, Ill. She was married to Walter C. Christiancy at Osco February 8, 1882. After residing at Osco one year, Mr. and Mrs. Christiancy moved to Nebraska, settling on a farm they had bought in Chelsea Township, Fillmore County. Christiancy died at her home in Strang, Neb., at 4:45 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 1930, aged 69 years, 8 months and 24 days. Sophia Knowles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Knowles, was born October 5, 1860, at Osco, Ill. She was married to Walter C. Christiancy at Osco February 8, 1882. After residing at Osco one year, Mr. and Mrs. Christiancy moved to Nebraska, settling on a farm they had bought in Chelsea Township, Fillmore County. That remained their home until they removed to Strang eight years ago. The following children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Christiancy: Bert, Belva, Roy, Clarence, Earl, Guy, Clair, Vern, Audrey and Richard. Clarence and Richard are deceased. Belva, now Mrs. Austin Saylor, resides at Winnett, Mont. Audrey is now Mrs. Jacob Gray. With the exception of Mrs. Saylor, all of the children reside near enough to the parental home to visit it often. All of the children will always hold in loving memory the beautiful and helpful life of their mother. Mrs. Christiancy is also survived by her husband, twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also by one sister, Mrs. Herbert Norton of Olathe, Kas. Rev. W. G. Conner, pastor of the Strang United Brethren Church, conducted a short service at the home in Strang at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Geneva, Neb., by Rev. Harold C. Capsey, assisted by Rev. W. G. Conner. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
