We wish to thank all those who helped us in any way in our recent bereavement; those sending flowers, the ministers for their comforting words, the singers and also for the use of the church. The Christiancy children. ALSO: W. C. Christiancy was born June 7, 1857, in Osco, Henry County, Illinois. He was united in wedlock to Sophie Knowles February 8, 1882. To this union were born ten children. The family moved to Fillmore County in 1883, locating in Chelsea Township, where they resided until twelve years ago when Mr. and Mrs. Christiancy moved to Strang. The wife, Sophie, preceded him to the great beyond just three days more than four years ago. Two children, Richard and Clarence, preceded the mother in death. Mr. Christiancy was known to everyone as “Dad” and many years of friendly neighborliness made him a host of friends. His leaving was very sudden and unexpected. He leaves eight children, Bert, Belva, Roy, Earl, Guy, Clair, Vern and Audrey, all being near Strang, except Belva (Mrs. Austin Saylor) who lives in Montana; twenty-one grandchildren, also a brother, Perry C. Christiancy of Geneva, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Hunseker of Manton, Cal. One brother Frank of Geneva, and three sisters, Mrs. Ben Hafer of Geneva, Mrs. Emil Stephenson of Illinois, and Mrs. John Bailor of Weston, Kas. preceded him in death. Besides the relatives, he leaves a host of friends, the accumulation of many years of friendly service, who will miss him. So passes away another of the old settlers whose ranks are thinning, whose stories of the trials and hardships of the early days in taking the wild out of the west, will soon be heard only as we read them. Mr. Christiancy passed away at 5:45 a. m. Tuesday, July 3, 1934, at the home of his son Bert, in Strang, aged 77 years and 26 days. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, July 7, at 2:30 at the Geneva Methodist Church. Rev. A. B. Small of Strang officiated. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery.
