SPEDIA AMELIA PORTER was born on March 26, 1848, near Reno, Edna Township, in Cass County, Iowa. Spedia was the daughter of Edward Porter and Clarissa Powell Porter; and, the granddaughter of Daniel Porter and Catherine (Gaffney) Porter. The migration path of her Porter ancestors zigzagged from Virginia to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; to Ashland/Richland County, Ohio, to Macon County, Illinois (where her grandfather, Daniel Porter, died in December of 1836); to Stark County, Illinois (where her widowed grandmother, Catherine Gaffney, died May 25, 1883, in Stark County, Illinois, at approximately age ninety-three [93]. . Spedia's parents, Edward and Clarissa Porter, had migrated from Stark County, Illinois to Cass County, Iowa, in 1855, where they raised their family, and spent the remainder of their lives. . Keith married Spedia Amelia Porter (daughter of Edward Porter and Clarissa Powell Porter), on January 14, 1866, in Reno, Edna Township, Cass County, Iowa. The marriage was officiated by Rev. Their infant daughter died June 3, 1886, just two weeks after the death of her mother. Mother and baby are buried at Walnut Shade Cemetery, Taney County, Missouri. . REMARRIAGE: Alexander E. Keith remarried in Iowa, in 1889. His second wife was Lorinda Ann Sadler. Alexander and Lorinda Ann became the parents of four [4] children. . 1). Melvin Keith. 2). Eva Emmaline Keith. 3).
