PORTER Ancestry:

SPEDIA AMELIA PORTER was born on March 26, 1848, near Reno, Edna Township, in Cass County, Iowa. Spedia was the daughter of Edward Porter and Clarissa Powell Porter; and, the granddaughter of Daniel Porter and Catherine (Gaffney) Porter. The migration path of her Porter ancestors zigzagged from Virginia to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; to Ashland/Richland County, Ohio, to Macon County, Illinois (where her grandfather, Daniel Porter, died in December of 1836); to Stark County, Illinois (where her widowed grandmother, Catherine Gaffney, died May 25, 1883, in Stark County, Illinois, at approximately age ninety-three [93].

Spedia's parents, Edward and Clarissa Porter, had migrated from Stark County, Illinois to Cass County, Iowa, in 1855, where they raised their family, and spent the remainder of their lives.

ALEXANDER ENOS KEITH was born September 14, 1848, in Allen County, Ohio. His parents were Zachariah [Zekariah] David Keith and Jerusha Ann Enos, who had migrated from Ohio to Cass County, Iowa.

Alexander E. Keith married Spedia Amelia Porter (daughter of Edward Porter and Clarissa Powell Porter), on January 14, 1866, in Reno, Edna Township, Cass County, Iowa. The marriage was officiated by Rev. Samuel Smith.

Alexander and Spedia Keith became the parents of fourteen [14] children. With the exception of their last child, all born in Iowa. Their children are as follows:

1). Mary Maria Keith, born December 29, 1866, Cass County, Iowa; died 21 Nov 1930, Grant, Iowa. [Married: # 1. Nathaniel Crawford Sellers. Married: # 2. Frank Joseph Lauver.

2). David Albert Keith, born January 24, 1868, Cass County, Iowa; died August 18, 1941, Deep Water, Taney County, Missouri; buried in Clinton, Henry County, Missouri. [David married Vina Dougherty].

3). Etta Mellissa Keith, born August 23, 1869, Reno, Cass County, Iowa; died May 16, 1926, Flatrock, Missouri; buried Ponce De Leon, Missouri. [Etta married Andrew Marion Roberts].

THE DEATH OF HIS WIFE: Spedia Amelia (Porter) Keith, wife of Alexander Enos Keith, died at Walnut Shade, Taney County, Missouri, on May 14, 1886, less than a month after the birth of their baby girl, Josie Evaline Keith. Their infant daughter died June 3, 1886, just two weeks after the death of her mother. Mother and baby are buried at Walnut Shade Cemetery, Taney County, Missouri.

REMARRIAGE: Alexander E. Keith remarried in Iowa, in 1889. His second wife was Lorinda Ann Sadler. Alexander and Lorinda Ann became the parents of four [4] children.

2). Eva Emmaline Keith.
3). Lee Keith.
4). Clara Keith.

Mrs. Lorinda Ann (Sadler) Keith passed away January 5, 1924, at Deepwater, Henry County, Missouri.
Alexander Enos Keith died January 5, 1924, Deep Water, Missouri. Both are buried at the Deepwater Cemetery (a.k.a. Knights of Pyhthias), Henry County, Missouri.
