For decades, surviving family members have wondered what really happened. Just over a year ago, Larry Good, brother to A2C Adrian C. Gayther, started on a quest to find other family members and is currently writing a book about the crash & crew members. When his research brought him to Payette, and in contact with the Payette County Historical Society, a memorial event was conceived to honor the crash victims, and give the families an opportunity to see the crash site and find a final peace. The crash memorial was held August 5, 2010, at the memorial monument, located on Hwy 52. The monument was erected the following year after the crash and was funded and presented by the Key Club of Payette High School. Approximately 125 people attended the event, including 22 family members. Family members were taken to the crash site, located on private land, and were allowed to leave flowers. Flowers were also left on the monument. MSGT Bruce Kimball, of the Thunderbirds, of Nellis AFB, arrived unannounced and spoke to the families during the ceremony.
