Description	:	ELK POINT, S.D. -- Stanley O. Lawrence, 85, of Elk Point passed away on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital following a brief illness. Services were Monday at Elk Point. Burial was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Elk Point Post 915. Stanley was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Akron, Iowa, to Ole and Christina (Amundson) Lawrence. Burial was at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Elk Point Post 915. Stanley was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Akron, Iowa, to Ole and Christina (Amundson) Lawrence. He grew up in Akron and graduated from Akron High School. After high school, Stanley served in World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands in Alaska. After serving time during World War II, Stanley moved back home and farmed north of Richland until retiring about 15 years ago. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed the outdoors and farming. Stanley often liked to drive around to look at the crops and get a bite to eat in Elk Point Stanley is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Christina; his brothers, Leonard, Orland, and Jasper; his sisters, Grace Hesnard, Mildred Porter and Adeline Lawrence.
