Description	:	Stella May Burton, daughter of Charles and Josephine Derowitsch, was born March 8, 1907 near Hoxie, Kansas. She passed from this life unexpectedly Tuesday, February 7, 1995 at her home in Belleville, KS, at the age of 87 years. As a young girl, Stella traveled with her family from Hoxie to Republic County, Kansas by covered wagon. She attended the country schools and then began working with her parents on the family farm. She passed from this life unexpectedly Tuesday, February 7, 1995 at her home in Belleville, KS, at the age of 87 years. As a young girl, Stella traveled with her family from Hoxie to Republic County, Kansas by covered wagon. She attended the country schools and then began working with her parents on the family farm. On July 21, 1925 Stella was united in marriage to George E. Burton and to this union of almost 70 years two sons Bobby Ray and Raymond were born. Stella and George farmed north of Belleville until 1953 when they moved into Belleville. She then worked for many years as a waitress. Stella served the families of Republic County at the Elliot Hotel, the Annex Cafe, the Rock Island, Bell Villa and the Corner Grill. Stella was a member of the Happy Hour Club when she lived in Liberty Township and the VFW Auxiliary of Belleville. Stella's first love was her family. Providing a warm and loving atmosphere was her priority. A favorite hobby was gathering with anyone and everyone to play any type of card game and she especially loved to go and play bingo. She loved trying to beat the odds. Stella was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Bobby Ray; brothers, Freddie, Evan and Elmer; and her sister Fannie Nydahl. She will be greatly missed, but forever remembered by her husband George of the home; her son Raymond and wife Dee, Belleville; brothers Charles and wife Lillian Derowitsch, Lloyd and wife Arlene Derowitsch and Elmer's wife Bernice Derowitsch, all of Belleville; granddaughters Connie and husband Fred Levendofsky, Republic, and Cheri and husband Fred Williams of California; great-grandchildren Brett and Breagan Williams and Nicholas and Kristen Levendofsky; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and a community of friends. Services were held Friday, February 10, 1995 at Tibbetts-Fischer Chapel, Belleville, with Mr. Randy Paugh officiating. Burial was in the Chester Cemetery, Chester, NE.
