Description	:	Stella was the daughter of Orrin and Diana Freeman and was born on the family farm located near the hamlet of Volga City, Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa on May 29, 1875. Stella's name is spelled "Stelly" in the Freeman bible. She had five brothers and sisters: Alvin William, Mark Myron, John Justus, Amy Amanda (who lived less than one month) and Eva Cerena. Read More	Stella was the daughter of Orrin and Diana Freeman and was born on the family farm located near the hamlet of Volga City, Sperry Township, Clayton County, Iowa on May 29, 1875. Stella's name is spelled "Stelly" in the Freeman bible. She had five brothers and sisters: Alvin William, Mark Myron, John Justus, Amy Amanda (who lived less than one month) and Eva Cerena. Stella was next to the youngest child. When she was three years of age, the family moved to Washington County, Kansas where her father established a farm. Her parents moved once again, this time in April of 1889 to the small town of Yesler, King County, Washington. Yesler is now part of the city of Seattle. Stella started at the University of Washington in 1893 when her father, Orrin, was still killing cougars on the present campus. Among her friends at the old campus, near 5th and Union, were the daughters of such Seattle pioneers as the Mercers, Yeslers, Dennys, Hortons and Fryes. Then, the campus consisted of an administration building, girls dorm, boys dorm and a few classrooms. To attend the university Stella had to row her boat from Yesler to Madison Park, and then take a street car into town. She attended for three years and became a teacher. Stella married William Henderson Wright on August 25, 1903 at Everett, Washington. William was born January 8, 1874. The couple had three children: Lewis Thomas, Helena Geneva and William Leslie. All three children were born in Monroe, Washington. After they were married, the family lived at Monroe, Ione and Newport, Washington. She passed away on October 23, 1958 at Newport and is buried at Newport Cemetery, Newport, Pend Oreille County, Washington.
