Stephen Henry Huss, the son of Joseph Huss and Theresa Mollner Huss, was born on September 22, 1894 at Nebraska City, Nebraska, and he passed away at the Sargent Nursing Home in Sargent, Custer County, Nebraska, on Tuesday, November 21, 1978 at the age of 84 years, one month and 29 days. Steve spent his boyhood days in eastern Nebraska and in his teens, he accompanied the Huss family to Webster, South Dakota and later to Sargent, Nebraska, where he continued to live the remainder of his life. On September 14, 1916 he was married to Fannie Moore of Sargent, at Broken Bow. The were the parents of one daughter, now Lucille Holmes. Mr. Huss was engaged in farming in the Sargent community and also was employed for a number of years at the Pulliam-Monson Sale Barn here. In the early 1940s. they moved into Sargent and he assisted the late George Hale and, more recently, LeRoy Matousek, in the well business. His wife passed away on January 17,1975 and in 1977 he moved to become a resident into the Sargent Nursing Home. Preceding his departure are his parents, one brother, Michael Huss, and one sister, Agnes Leep and 2 other sisters who died in infancy. Surviving are his daughter Lucille and son-in-law, Ted Holmes of Centra Point, Oregon; 3 grandsons, Staff Sgt. Stephen Holmes and his wife Tina of Riverside, California, Royce Holmes and wife Keryn and Perry Holmes, all of Centra Point, Oregon; 2 great-grandchildren, Kathryn and Theodore Holmes of Riverside, California; one brother, Joseph F. Huss of Anaheim, California, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Annie Chalupa of Ord, Nebraska, Mrs. Theresa Brannon of Sargent, and Mrs. Carl (Rosella) Metcalf of Grand Island, Nebraska, and many nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
