Mrs. Susannah Mikesell, who died in Ottumwa the 24th ult., was a resident of this city for many years and had a wide acvuaintance (sic) here. She was born in Butler county, O., March 21st, 1818, and was married at the age of fifteen to George Mikesell, in Preble county. They were the parents of nine children. Those who survive them are Mrs. Robert Clinkenbeard of Ottumwa, at whose home the mother died; Peter and Mrs. George Morris (sic. Norris), Monmouth, Ill.; William, Mt. Pleasant; J. R. and B. M. in this city. The family came to this city in 1860, and the father died here April 15th, 1892. Mrs. Mikesell had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church since her fifteenth year and her life was in accord with its teachings. She was a woman of many excellences, was greatly loved by her family and had many friends who held her in high esteem. The body was interred in this city Saturday. Funeral services, at the First Methodist church, were conducted by Rev. R. L. Patterson of Ottumwa, assisted by Rev. Thos. Osborn and Rev. Alex. Corkey. ----------- Note: George's obituary noted that he was the father of 17 children, but that 8 had died as infants. Where those infants were/are buried isn't clearly known at this time. The following is a listing of the remaining 9 children of George and Susannah Mikesell. Aprill 1840 in Ohio, d. July 1903. Married first to Roger Clark Page and they had at least one daughter, Effie E Page, born in October, 1873. Anna/Ann then was married to a M. J. Boomhower, who was born in September 1855 in N.Y. per the Indiana census of 1900. There is a joint memorial headstone for Anna/Ann and her first husband R. Clark Page on the Mikesell family plot (Old.P.168) in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa, but where she and her husbands are actually buried isn't known at this time. Any clarification would be appreciated. > Mary Catherine Mikesell Clinkenbeard/Bunnell, born about 1847 in Ohio and reportedly died Feb. 9, 1933 in Memphis, TN. Married first to Robert J. Clinkenbeard on January 23, 1865 in Jefferson county, Iowa, then to a Geo. Bunnell. > John Mikesell > Belle Mikesell; she was married three times but is buried on the Mikesell maiden family plot under the "Mikesell" surname. > William E. Mikesell, b. about 1861. Married March 1, 1885 to Jennie Butts, the married on Jan. 8, 1894 to a Mrs. Anna Dwyer Burns.
