Read More	The Hartington Herald, NE, Thursday March 5, 1936, pg. 1, col. 5 MRS. L. J. BACKMAN DIES ON TUESDAY Wynot Woman, Mother of Eight Children, Dies--Had Been in Ill Health Mrs. Lou J. Backman, well known Wynot woman and mother of eight children, died at her farm home two and one half miles south of Wynot on Tuesday evening at the age of 47 years. The death of Mrs. Backman was a shock to her devoted family and friends throughout the Hartington and Wynot vicinities. She had been in poor health for about three years, suffering from high blood pressure. Her condition became serious the early part of the week and her children and relatives were notified of her condition. She passed away at nine o'clock Tuesday evening. The late Mrs. Backman is survived by her husband and eight children: Miss Wilma who is a student in Holy Trinity High School, Miss Lillian who is employed at Wayne, Mrs. Werner Burbach (Marjory) who lives northeast of Hartington, Florin of Wynot, Gerald of Obert, Miss Luceda, who is attending the Wynot High School and Henry and Geraldine who are at home. Funeral announcements have not been made on account of the impassable roads in the St. James and Wynot vicinity. She is also survived by her mother who lives at Vermillion, S. D., and two sisters and two brothers. Before her marriage Mrs. Backman was Miss Susie Sargent. The young couple were married at the Catholic church at St. James 27 years ago in February. They went to housekeeping on their farm place two and one half miles south of Wynot and continued to live on the same farm place ever since. The late Mrs. Backman was a fine type of Christian woman, a devoted mother and a sincere member of the Catholic faith. She was active in the Altar Society of the St. James Catholic church. +++ Cedar County News, NE, Wednesday, March 11, 1936, pg. 5, col. 3 Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Louis Backman WYNOT--Funeral services for Mrs. Louis Backman, who died Tuesday night following a stroke suffered that day, were held Friday morning from Sts. Phillip and James church in St. James with Rev. Anthony Paschang officiating. Pall bearers were Albin, Claytus and Raynold Backman, Dick Klug, Chalmer Faulk and Louis Promes. Relatives attending the funeral from a distance were Mrs. Louis Backman's mother, Mrs. Henry Anderson, two sisters, Mrs. Eve Brazile and Mrs. Anna Brown, one brother Harry Sarget and Mr. Brown all of Vermillion. Another brother Lloyd Sargent is in California. Burial under the direction of Jones mortuary, was in the St. James cemetery.
