HUSMANN FUNERAL TODAY IN WAYNE TWP Was 91 Years Old; Settled Here In '87 With Her Family Mrs. Talke Husmann, 91, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry C. Balster, on North Sycamore street, Monday morning at 2 o'clock. She had been bedfast for two weeks. Her death was caused by the infirmities of old age. Funeral services for Mrs. Husmann will be held at 12:30 today at the Goettsch funeral home and at 1 o'clock at Zion Evangelical Lutheran church in Wayne township. Rev. F. H. Kehren, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be made at Zion cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Husmann was born Sept. 10, 1854, in the town of Ockenhusen, Ostfriesland, Germany, a daughter of Oko and Heika Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Ramels, Ostfriesland. She was married March 4, 1876, to Casper Husmann. The family lived in Germany until 1889, where their first three children were born. The family emigrated to the United States and settled in Illinois at Mt. Olive, where Mr. Husmann secured employment in a coal mine. Seven years later they came to Jones county, due to the fact that they had relatives living near Monticello. Two of Mrs. Husmann's sons and her husband preceded her in death. Mr. Husmann died Sept. 7, 1905. A son, Frederick, died at 6 months, and Carl at the age of 47. Her other children are: Mrs. E. J. Huls, Ryan; Mrs. George Hansen, Manchester; Mrs. Henry C. Balster, Monticello; Mrs. H. Cordes, Cass Center; Mrs. Will Zimmerman, Cass Center; John Husmann, Castle Grove; Frank Husmann, Center Junction; Mrs. Gert Bartels, Monticello, and Henry Husmann, Wayne. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Husmann continued to operate the farm with the help of her children until 1915, when she retired to make her home with her children. During the past 8 1/2 years she has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Balster. She was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran church, and was regular attendant during her more active years.
