She was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. James Riddle. She was married to John Cottam November 14, 1893 and of this union ten children were born, four girls and six boys, all of whom are surviving. She was the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. James Riddle. She was married to John Cottam November 14, 1893 and of this union ten children were born, four girls and six boys, all of whom are surviving. Her early girlhood was spent with her parents in Iowa and Missouri, where her father was a Baptist minister. In 1895 Mrs. Cottam with her husband, and small daughter moved to Nebraska onto a farm near Hubbell. Since the death of her husband in February 1939 she has made her home with her children. During all the years of her wedded life Mrs. Cottam was a kind affectionate mother and loving wife. her home was of the happiest and all who entered there received a hearty welcome and her presence will be reatly missed by all who knew her. She has gone to her silent rest after years of noble deeds. Honored and loved by many as one of the noblest and best of nature's handiwork. With willing hands and a tender heart she was ever ready to lend aid and comfort to those who were in distress and was always the happiest when engaged in doing good. her sympathy came from the heart and was therefore deep and lasting. She belonged to no church; to do good was her religion and as to how well she followed this concept, her many friends may be the judge. The rule and guide to all her conduct was love and charity. These elements of character were with her in youth and followed her through life and were with her when she bade the last farewell. Her greatest anxiety was for the welfare and comfort of those whom she was soon to leave behind. The surviving children are: Mrs. Jessie Davenport of Troy, Kans.; George of Tobias; Mrs. Dorothy Moore of St. Joe, MO.; Johnnie of Deshler and Mrs. Bessie Zlab, Mrs. Goldie Woodside, Clarence, Leo, Virgil and Joe all of Hubbell. One sister Mrs. Martha Robert of Cambridge, Ill.. twin brothers Fred Riddle of Pomona, Kans., and Ed of Amsterdam, MO., thirty-one grandchildren, two great grand children and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, July 2, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Goldie Woodside.
