McCune Herald, Jan. 7, 1921, page 1: Aged Citizen Dead ---------------------------- Theodore C. Montee Died at the Home of His Son Near Strauss Monday -- Funeral Tuesday Theodore C. Montee died at the home of his son Delmer Montee of Strauss Monday at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 25 days. The funeral services were held from the home Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H.I. Dolson, and the remains were buried in the McCune cemetery. The deceased was born in New York May 8, 1827. When a young man he located in McDonough county, Ill., where he was united in marriage to Mary (sic) Brundage. He came to Kansas in 1883 and resided near Sherman until the death of his wife. Since then he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Anna Swain of McCune and son, Delmer, of Strauss. Five children remain to mourn the departure of their father as follows: George Montee of Columbus, Frank Montee of Cherokee, Mrs. Lizzie Crum of Calhan, Colorado, Mrs. Anna Swain of McCune and Delmer Montee of the Strauss neighborhood. Mr. Montee reached a ripe old age. He was a good citizen and a loving father, and his death is a loss to this community.
