Description	:	Iles Funeral Home Thomas Edward Larson, 64, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away on May 15, 2016 after suffering a heart attack while on vacation near Colorado Springs, Colorado. Tom was born on April 27, 1952 in Fairfield, Iowa. He was the second child of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Murfield) Larson and grew up on the family farm. Tom was born on April 27, 1952 in Fairfield, Iowa. He was the second child of Kenneth and Elizabeth (Murfield) Larson and grew up on the family farm. Following graduation from Fairfield High School in 1970, Tom attended the University of Iowa where he earned a BBA degree in accounting in 1974. Shortly thereafter, he became a licensed CPA. After completing his studies, Tom moved to Des Moines where he worked for Ernst & Young before joining several colleagues in forming LWBJ, one of the Midwest's leading CPA, business advisory and M&A firms headquartered in West Des Moines. At the time of his death, Tom led the firm's Attest Services practice. Tom was a member and past president of the West Des Moines Rotary and served on the board of the Easter Seals Iowa Foundation. He was also a member of the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Aldersgate United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing with friends, University of Iowa athletics, St. Louis Cardinals baseball and traveling with his friend, Ut Le. Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother. Visitation will be Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Iles Westover Chapel in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church at 3600 75th Street in Urbandale. A graveside service will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa at 3:00 p.m. on May 21.
