Here he spent his happy boyhood days attending the rural school and assisting his father with the farm work. As he was the eldest of a large family, many duties were thrust upon him which it seemed only a pleasure for him to perform. In 1901 he moved to Oklahoma, farming for a while, and afterwards breaking on the train. Later moving to Americus, Kansas, he was married to Miss Ella Rapp in 1916. Two orphan children, William and Eva, who found a happy home with them were the objects of his tenderest care and devotion. In January, 1923, deceased had a severe attack of Flu and pneumonia from which he never fully recovered and on May 14 he passed away on the third anniversary of his mother's death. He leaves a loving wife also six brothers and four sisters. His brothers are: George of Ulysses, Richard, Joseph, John, Leo and Charles of Wyoming. His sisters are Mrs. Nora Fahey of Chicago, Mrs. Anna Graham of O'Niel, Nebr., Mrs. Wm. Schneberger of Staplehurst and Mrs. Francis Austin of Wyoming. The funeral services were conducted at the Sacred Heart Church at Emporia, Kansas, by Rev. Father Celestine and the remains laid to rest at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The pall bearers were T. A. Bellinger, T. O. Barn, John Moore, J. C. McKelsey, Robert Campbell and Charles Wheeler. Mrs. Nellie Schneberger and brother George Gorman and his aunt Mrs. Bradley of Ulysses attended the funeral services at Emporia, Kansas. Thomas was an all around good honest sociable fellow and the sympathy of all is extended to his sorrowing relatives. He has crossed the river 'Twas deep and wide But angels sang On the other side.
