Thomas Mallatt, well known in this vicinity, died at his home in Fremont, last Saturday of paralysis aged about 60 years. Mr. Mallatt had been in poor health for some time and several years ago quit farming and went to Fremont to live, leaving his sons to look after his farming interests. He was born in Maine in 1830, and at the age of 14 shipped on a sailing vessel, becoming first mate when about 20 years of age. He served two years in the United States navy during the civil war. He came to Nebraska in 1868 and located on a farm near Admah. He leaves a widow and six children, three boys and three daughters, all grown to maturity. The funeral services were held Tuesday and the interment was at the Admah cemetery.
