Gannon died at the home of his mother, Mrs. Anna Gannon, at Ulysses, on Thursday, December 17, aged 22 years, 3 months and 20 days. He is survived by his mother, one brother, Wm. of near Ulysses and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Jones of near Staplehurst, and Miss Sarah, of Ulysses. His father, Mr. Patrick Gannon, also one sister, Winifred, preceded him. Other relatives and many friends deeply regret his early passing and extend condolences to the bereaved loved ones. "Tommy," as he ws familiarly known, attended the Ulysses school for a time, after which he became a student at Spaulding college for one year, later attending Trinity college at Sioux City, Iowa for a period of three years where he graduated with honors. Soon afterward he returned to Ulysses and accepted a position in the First Bank where his work was marked with accuracy and efficiency in every detail. Of quiet and gentlemanly deportment, he won many friends and had the happy faculty of retaining them. Following a stay of three years in the Bank, his health failed and when the nature of the ailment became known, the disease, diabetes, had assumed a serious condition, which failed to respond to the best medical and hospital treatments. He had been a patient of both, St. Josephs and St. Elizabeth hospitals in Omaha and Lincoln. He suffered patiently for one year but was able to be up and around the house. Of late, he grew worse but was resigned to the will of the Heavenly Father. Being fortified by the last sacraments of the church, and with a prayer on his lips, Tommy passed into eternity. "Eternal rest grant him, O, Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon him." His funeral services were held on Saturday morning at St. Mary's church, his pastor, Rev. Loughran, officiating at a Requiem High Mass for the repose of his soul. A goodly number of friends were in attendance. The pall bearers were his young men friends, and were Thomas Timoney, Thomas Powers, Patrick Mundy, Ed. Gray, George Otoupal and James Ward. Interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery. - E. B. L.
