Mrs. Fryer was baptized in the North Grove Church southeast of Villisca. She later transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Villisca. She attended rural schools in Page and Taylor counties before attending Normal Training School at Bedford. She then taught country school for several years. Read More	TRESSIE GERTRUDE FRYER Tressie Gertrude Fryer, 96, daughter of Stillman B. and Ellen McCoy Edwards, was born December 27, 1888 in Page County, Iowa and passed away Tuesday, July 30, 1985 at Villisca Good Samaritan Center. Mrs. Fryer was baptized in the North Grove Church southeast of Villisca. She later transferred her membership to the United Methodist Church in Villisca. She attended rural schools in Page and Taylor counties before attending Normal Training School at Bedford. She then taught country school for several years. Her main interests included music, piano recitals, and the teaching of piano. Mrs. Fryer was active in community affairs as a member of the Country Women’s Club, Ladies Missionary Society of the Methodist Church and Garden Club. ON February 3, 1915, she was married to Roy Fryer in Rural Page County. They made their home on the farm until 1947 when they moved to town. Mrs. Fryer became a resident of the Villisca Good Samaritan Center on June 21, 1977. Mrs. Fryer is survived by two children, Florence Simms of Davis California, and Frank I. Fryer of Villisca; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one sister, Maybelle Brooks of Cathedral, California. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 2, 1981, her parents, and brothers, Estelle and Mack. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 1, 1985, at the Wolfe Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Wainwright officiating. Musical selections were provided by Frances Gray and Sherry Hoyt. Dorothy Fryer was at the register and Lois Bryson was the flower bearer. Pall bearers were Glen Greenfield, Lynn Lucas, Dale Suter, Dennis Gourley, and Mike Goszulak. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Wolfe Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
