Description	:	Roy Logan Fryer was born May 1, 1886, on a farm west of Villisca, in Montgomery County, Iowa. He was the oldest of five children born to the late Frank B. Fryer and wife Mary Lavina Stone. Hid three brothers and sister, all deceased were the late Manford Fryer, Fred Fryer, Ed Fryer, and Mrs. Ruth Boggess, all of Villisca. Read More	Roy Logan Fryer was born May 1, 1886, on a farm west of Villisca, in Montgomery County, Iowa. He was the oldest of five children born to the late Frank B. Fryer and wife Mary Lavina Stone. Hid three brothers and sister, all deceased were the late Manford Fryer, Fred Fryer, Ed Fryer, and Mrs. Ruth Boggess, all of Villisca. Roy lived west of Villisca only a short time as a child and then moved with his family to a farm north of Nodaway, where he resided until the age of seven. From there the family moved to a large farm in Taylor County, where Roy attended grammar school and graduated from Villisca High School. He continued his education by enrolling in Animal Husbandry at Iowa State College at Ames and remained there a year when illness overcame him and forced him to terminate and return home. As a young man, Roy entered the family and cattle business with his father and uncle, the late C. S. Fryer. They farmed and fed cattle on considerable land in southwest Iowa for many years. Roy became a member of the Chicago Livestock Commission, the Omaha Cattle and Hog Commission, as well as the St. Joseph Commission of Livestock, known as Heady and Fannon. On February 3, 1915, Roy married Gertrude Edwards, also of Taylor County, and they set up housekeeping and continued his farming business. In this union was born one daughter, Florence Simon, now living in Davis County, and one son, Frank LeRoy of Villisca. In 1947 Roy retired from farming and moved to West High Street in Villisca. Besides his wife, Gertrude, Roy leaves his daughter Florence and son Frank and seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 5, 1981 at the Wolfe Funeral Home, Villisca, with Rev. Clair Kerns. Burial in the Villisca Cemetery.
