Description	:	Twila W. Livingston, daughter of Woodie and Agnes (Carey) Hisel, was born August 23, 1923 in a sod home in the Nebraska Sand Hills, south of Ashby. She grew up in the area, and after graduating from high school, Twila attended Kearney State Teacher's College until receiving her teaching certificate. She taught in the Sand Hills for five years. She grew up in the area, and after graduating from high school, Twila attended Kearney State Teacher's College until receiving her teaching certificate. She taught in the Sand Hills for five years. On May 29, 1943, Twila was united in marriage with Claude J. "C.J." Livingston in Ashby. This union was blessed with eight children, Claude Jerry, Clinton James, Cherie Jo, Candy Jodene, Cindy Jolene, Crystal Jolana, Carla Jonelle and Craig Jeffery. The family made their home in the Sand Hills for several years, where their door was always open to friends and family. It was said to be the "hospitality house." The family raised chickens, and Twila cooked five chickens at a time, knowing there would be an extra person for her meals. She was also known for her homemade bread and donuts, which she baked once a week. She was an active member of the Wesleyan Church in Lewellen, while they were living in Nebraska. The family later moved to El Dorado, Kansas and had recently came to Anthony, Kansas to be near their children. On Wednesday afternoon, August 31, 2011, eight days after her 88th birthday, Twila passed away in the Anthony Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Craig Jeffery Livingston; one daughter, Cindy Jolene Livingston; and two grandchildren: Nathan McCorkle and Elizabeth McCorkle; one great grandchild, Xabriel Harms; and two brothers: Conley and Elton Hisel. She will be missed by her husband of sixty-eight years, C.J. Livingston; children: Claude Jerry Livingston and wife, Conna, all of Anthony, Clinton James Livingston and wife, Hazel, of Lewellen, Nebraska, Cherie Jo McCorkle and husband, Jess, of Dewey, OK, Candy Jodene Kirchner and husband, Sidric, of Bartlesville, OK, Crystal Jolana Harms and husband, Rick, of Locust Grove, OK, and Carla Jonelle Pence and husband, Quinn, of Harper; her daughter-in-law: Valerie Livingston of Orchard, Nebraska; one sister, Loralee Stevens of Olathe, KS; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nazarene Church in Anthony. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ash Hollow Cemetery in Lewellen, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Craig's Girls account at Kanza Bank in Anthony and may be sent in care of the funeral home. Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E. Main St., Anthony, KS 67003, is in charge of arrangements.
